Most media texts target a wide range of audiences, how true is this of your chosen text?


Introduction-
My first chosen text is the Matthew Weiner series 'Mad Men' which does necessarily target a wide range of audiences and is created specifically for a niche audience with an intended target audience is adults aged 25 plus. I specifically focused on series five episode eleven 'The Other Women'

There are many ways in which the 'Mad Men' series targets and gratifies its niche audience, to start with in the UK the series itself is show on the channel 'Sky Atlantic' which is a subscription only channel meaning that the viewers are automatically are the preferred audience as they are paying for the channel itself. The target audience of series are individuals who are relativity educated and have an interest and understanding of the contextual references, this is similar to many of the other shows aired on the channel 'Sky Atlantic'.
